After 6 Months Of No Eye Contact, Dad Figures Out Adopted Dog’s True Passion

Dogs rescued from abusive and neglectful pasts often take some time to fit into their new lives. Everything they’d ever known is wrong, and they have to learn to accept love for the very first time. And each dog handles it differently. The story about a dog named Penni is a special one because for the longest time, she wouldn’t even look at her new dad.

Penni lived in the basement of a drug house and was in pretty bad shape. After years of that kind of a lifestyle, it’s bound to take a toll. Things would change after she was rescued and adopted by a man named Blaine. But not right away.

For the first six months of her new life with her dad, Penni wouldn’t even make eye contact. She would just sit in the corner with her head down unwilling to go on walks. As he said, “She was a full-blown disaster.” He had never met a dog so scared of everything.

They then moved from New Jersey to Las Vegas, and that’s where Penni’s true passion in life would be discovered. Blaine started taking her on hikes, and he slowly started to see her demeanor change. Little by little, she was finally coming out of her shell. Who would’ve thought hiking would be the thing to bring life back into this sweet pit bull? Penni still has some anxiety, but her life has changed in a big way.

And dad wouldn’t trade her for anything in the world.

Raccoon’s Thinking About Getting In The Pool When The Dog Shows Up And Helps Convince Him

When you think of a day at the pool images of barbecuing with the family, sunscreen, and splashing around in the water usually come to mind. But a day at the pool at this household is quite different. And quite adorable!

While you should never pick up a raccoon out of the wild and bring it home as a pet, Tito’s case is a lot different. He was rescued and raised alongside Penny the chocolate Labrador since he was just a baby, and they’ve become inseparable and somewhat dependant on each other. You’ll know what I mean when you see a typical day at the pool with them. 🙂

Tito walks up to the side of the pool and sticks his front paws in the water when he’s greeted by Penny. Penny then follows Tito around the edge of the pool as mom films the entire thing for us to witness.

What You Need To Know When You See Dogs Wearing Yellow Ribbons Or Leashes

We all love dogs. That’s why we’re on this site, right? 🙂 They don’t call them Man’s Best Friend for nothing, and their companionship is second to none.

What’s not to love? They are loyal, adorable, and can be super playful and friendly. But that doesn’t always apply to every dog. In fact, some dogs just need their space. And that’s what The Yellow Dog Project is all about.

Started in 2012 by Tara Palardy of Alberta, Canada, The Yellow Dog Project is trying to bring about public awareness for DINOS — Dogs In Need Of Space. So if you see a yellow ribbon or something yellow on a dog’s leash, it’s a warning sign to give them some room.

It’s easy to want to pet and snuggle every dog we see, but there are several reasons that may not be appropriate the next time you see an adorable pooch at the park. When you see the yellow ribbon, think of a yellow traffic light — proceed with caution.

A dog wearing a yellow ribbon is doing so for one of many reasons: it’s currently in training, being rehabilitated, has some health issues, or maybe it just doesn’t react well around other dogs. So maintain distance and ask the owner any questions you may have.

It doesn’t mean the dog is aggressive or mean, it just needs some space. Dogs go through different emotions just like humans and need to be treated the same way.

The Yellow Dog Project wants to make it clear that tying a yellow ribbon on your dog’s collar doesn’t excuse neglect or poor training. It’s not a waiver of your responsibility to properly raise a dog.

So should you see a dog with a yellow ribbon or leash, proceed with caution and do not automatically approach. That dog needs some room to breathe just as we all do at times.

This is such a great idea, and we hope it catches on all over. Let’s help spread the word and keep these dogs as comfortable as can be.

Dog Had Been Chained Up His Entire Life, Finally Runs For The Very First Time

Ever since Peanut was just a few months old, he’d been chained up on a rural property in Pennsylvania. His owners lived there too but weren’t real interested in him. They weren’t being harsh on purpose, they were of the old-school mentality of keeping a dog outside. With everything we know and think today, it’s hard to imagine tethering a dog this way for its entire life.

But this was life to Peanut; a heavy chain around his neck and limited space to move. And it was all about to change for the sweet dog.
